How to Do an I Cord Bind Off

An I CORD BIND OFF is a useful  technique to know.  It makes a nice edging for a pocket or around a potholder or blanket.  

Here's what an I CORD BIND OFF looks like:

How to Do an I Cord Bind Off

Cast on 3 extra stitches at the beginning of the row.

K 2 stitches.

K next 2 sts. tog.

There are now 3 sts. on the Right needle. Transfer those 3 stitches to the Left needle.

K 2 stitches.

K 2 tog.

THROUGH THE BACK.

Transfer stitches to Left needle.

Repeat this process till there are 3 stitches left.

K 2 tog. THROUGH THE BACK.

K 1.

  • Transfer to Left needle.
  • There is 1 stitch left on the needle.

Cut the yarn.

Pull yarn through the stitch to tie it off.
