This beautiful flower can be used as decoration on a hat, scarf, headband or purse. You name it. There are many uses. On the photo above, I added it to a hat. I have also used it as a decoration on a napkin ring. The flower is knit in three parts. Check out the instructions below. And see the closeup photo of the finished flower at the bottom of the page.
Tips
- Don't worry if you make a mistake in counting. It will still come out okay.
Large or bottom tier
Cast on 98 stitches, #6 needles.
Row 1: K1, *bind off 3 sts, K1 rep from * to last st, K1
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: K1, *bind off 2 sts, K2 to last 3 sts, K2tog., K1
Row 4: Purl
Row 5: K1, *bind off 2 sts, K2, rep from * to last st, K1
Row 6: Purl
Row 7: Knit
Row 8: Purl
Row 9: Knit
Row 10: Purl
Pull yarn through remaining stitches and sew sides.
Medium or middle tier
Cast on 68 sts, #6 needles.
Row 1: K1, * bind off 3sts, K2, rep from * to last st, K1
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: K1, * bind off 2 sts, K2 to last 3 sts., cast off 2 sts, K1, Row 4: Purl
Row 5: K1, * K2tog, K1 rep from *to last 2 sts K2tog
Row 6: Purl
Row 7: K2tog across the row
Row 8: Purl
Pull yarn through remaining stitches and sew sides.
Small or top tier
Cast on 56 sts, #6 needles.
Row 1: K1, * bind off 3 sts, k2 rep from *to last st, K1
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: K1, * bind off 2 st, K2, rep from * to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1
Row 4: Purl
Row 5: K1, * K2tog, rep from * to end.
Pull yarn through remaining stitches and sew sides.
Finishing
Weave in ends. Put sections in a pile with largest on bottom and smallest on top. Pull yarn through center. Sew a button in the middle or fill in with green yarn.
- Optional: Crochet a few strands to look like stems or leaves to add more interest.
